GRANTMAKING - GUIDELINES FOR GRANTSEEKERS
Organizations seeking support are required to be registered 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organizations located in the United States. Grantseekers are
asked to submit a brief letter of inquiry (not a full proposal) describing
the mission of the organization and the purpose of the request.
Whenever possible, the Foundation prefers that letters of inquiry be
submitted electronically.
Staff responds to all correspondence, usually within 30 days and, if
appropriate, requests a full proposal. Organizations are asked not to send
videos, CDs, press clippings, books or other materials unless they are
requested. Please note that a request for a proposal does not guarantee
funding at any level, and that all funding decisions require the approval of
the Board of Directors.
The Foundation does not accept requests for:
• Individual assistance
• For-profit organizations
• Political parties or candidates
• Endowments, annual fund appeals, fundraising events
• Conferences, workshops
• Sectarian religious concerns
• Individual scholarships, fellowships, research, loans or travel
• Athletic events
• Film or media projects, publications
