GRANTMAKING - AREAS OF INTEREST
The Joseph and Vera Zilber Family Foundation, Inc. awards grants to
nonprofit organizations to benefit the residents of the City of Milwaukee,
primarily, but not exclusively, through the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative.
Started in 2008, the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative is a $50 million
commitment to Milwaukee neighborhoods. Over the course of a decade,
grants will fund community plans to revitalize neighborhoods and
support a small number of programs that benefit residents of multiple
neighborhoods. Currently, the Foundation supports comprehensive
development efforts in Lindsay Heights, Clarke Square and the
Layton Boulevard West neighborhoods of Layton Park, Burnham Park
and Silver City.
The Zilber Family Foundation also makes a limited number of grants
each year to eligible organizations to more generally benefit the residents
of the City of Milwaukee. For example, in recent years the Foundation has
awarded major grants to the Jewish Federation, Marquette University, the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the United Way.
Occasionally the Foundation makes modest donations to nonprofit
organizations to honor or match the charitable contributions of employees
of Zilber Ltd.
